Traveling exhibition: "What does a movement leave behind? Gothenburg's 1968 and the archives"

During the year, KvinnSam’s exhibition about the archives of the 1968 movement in Gothenburg will be displayed at a number of public libraries and at Regionarkivet in Gothenburg. First out is Frölunda Library, where the exhibition will be on display from March 9–31.

The exhibition “What does a movement leave behind? Gothenburg’s 1968 and the archives” highlights different types of materials that an archive from the 1968 movement can contain, including cassette tapes, photographs, minutes, banners, buttons, and more. The exhibition includes materials from several of KvinnSam’s archives, including:

The exhibition was produced in collaboration between the Department of Historical Studies at the University of Gothenburg, KvinnSam, and the Regionarkivet in Gothenburg. Together, KvinnSam and Regionarkivet hold important archives from Gothenburg’s 1968 movement, which is reflected in the exhibition.

The research project "Gothenburg's 1968"

The exhibition is part of the research project "Gothenburg’s 1968: Stories from a Working-class City in Movement" – an oral history project involving the systematic collection of interviews that will provide new knowledge about activism and collective mobilisation during the 1960s and 1970s.
