KvinnSamSem 28 april: Helene Larsson Pousette on "Archival excavations, active archiving and archivism"

Published

Welcome to KvinnSamSem, where Helene Larsson Pousette will talk about the importance of archives, as well as the interpretation of what we find in them.

Helene Larsson Pousette is a curator, senior facilitator, and writer, and a former cultural counsellor at the Swedish Embassy in Washington, D.C., and at the Swedish Embassy in Serbia, as well as a co-founder of the Stockholm Museum of Women's History. Over the past two months, she has explored the KvinnSam archives in search of predecessors, and her research is connected to several archival projects she is currently working on.

In 2021, she initiated Arkivism at the Stockholm Museum of Women's History, an initiative that became a handbook on how to search archives and archive oneself, and which has been implemented in teaching within a university network in the United States. In this presentation, she will discuss the importance of archives, as well as the interpretation of what we find in them. Everyone is welcome! Read more about the event here on the University of Gothenburg’s website.

KvinnSamSem is an open seminar series for anyone interested in women’s and gender studies. A project based on KvinnSam’s archival collections is presented, and participants have the opportunity to ask questions and give feedback in a relaxed setting.
