KvinnSam's Digitised Historical Swedish Periodicals for Women now in Svenska tidningar
Over the years, KvinnSam has made accessible thousands of issues of historical periodicals for women from our collections. Through a collaboration with the National Library (Kungliga Biblioteket), these periodcals are now also searchable in the National Library's online platform for digitized newspapers and magazines, Svenska tidningar.
Our digitized historical periodicals for women have been a highly utilized resource for researchers, students and the general public. They are available to read and download on our website, and now they can even be found in the National Library's online platform Svenska tidningar (Swedish newspapers)! In Svenska tidningar the National Library collects the entire output of Swedish newspapers from 2014 onwards, as well as its collection of Swedish daily newspapers from 1646-1906 and many more historical newspapers and periodicals. KvinnSam's collection of women's periodicals digitized by the Digitization Team at the University of Gothenburg Library's include titles such as Idun, Hertha, and Tidskrift for hemmet, dating from 1859 and forward. These periodicals played a crucial role in creating a space for women to discuss the women's movement, suffrage, peace issues, and more, serving as a way for women to influence politics and shape public opinion.
