The KvinnSam archive inventories are available through the Alvin platform. Requested materials can be ordered through our contact form and studied in the special reading room at the Humanities Library. We are happy to assist you in finding the archival materials you are looking for.

You can also search directly via Alvin to explore the KvinnSam archival collections. Try searching for a person’s name, the name of an organisation, or by document type. Regarding correspondence, you can search by sender, recipient, or a combination of the two. To narrow your search to only include items held by KvinnSam, use the filter in Alvin's left-hand menu to select “Archive institution.”
Alvin is developed and maintained by the Uppsala University Library in collaboration with the Gothenburg University Library and the Lund University Library. Several other cultural heritage institutions are Alvin members, and contribute material to the database. For detailed search instructions, consult the Alvin search guide.
Request archival materials
Archival materials can be requested by researchers, students, and the general public. Once you have found materials that you are interested in, you can request these for reading in the Special Reading Room at the Humanities Library, where KvinnSam is located.
Contact KvinnSam by using the contact form in the right-hand menu and submit your request at least three to four days before your planned visit. We are happy to assist you in finding the archival materials you are looking for.
How to request archival materials to the Special Reading Room:
- Browse for the material in Alvin.
- Use our contact form via the red button below to describe which materials you wish to request.
- Include the archive reference code (arkivsignum) and volume number. Please paste the link to the Alvin record into your request form.
- Provide your name, address, academic affiliation (if applicable), and your GU card or library card number.
- If possible, describe the purpose of your research.

Find photos in the KvinnSam archive collections
There are a large number of photos and images in KvinnSam's various archives, and a part of this has been digitised and is available in the Alvin archive platform.
